Mesa's Brooke White opened "Dolly Parton Night" on "American Idol" Tuesday night with a rendition of Parton's hit, "Jolene."

Randy thought it was "all right," while Simon said she lacked emotion.

But Judge Paula Abdul liked it.

"You are who you are. You put your heart and your soul into it," she told White. "And you have an emotional connection with each song that you pick. I think that's what record companies and executives want."
